Kids Bath Accessories

Kids bath accessories can be a fun and exciting way to get your kids to spend more time in the bathroom, which is always a good thing. Also, by setting your children's bathroom up in a way that's kid friendly, they're more likely to take pride in it, and want to help keep it clean and well organized. Kids bath accessories are also fun to pick out, and if your children are old enough, take them along to the store and let them help out with the process. This can also be another one of those "quality time" outings that will be fun for you and your kids.

Here's a list of some of the most common kids bath accessories:

Kids rugs and toilet covers (cartoon characters work great here)
Cupboards
Night lights
Shower curtains (again, you can't go wrong with Looney Tunes or Disney characters)
Kleenex box covers
Toothbrushes and matching toothbrush holders
Kids trash cans
Lotion dispensers
Soap Dish
Towels (you guessed it, another place where cartoon characters work great)

You really don't need to spend a huge amount of money on kids bath accessories to make their bathroom a fun and stimulating place. Designer accessories cost a little more, but sometimes they last longer as well. If you keep your eyes open, you can usually find some great matching bath sets on sale at many of the discount stores, or there are plenty of deals to be had at Amazon.com or some of the other online retailers. Another thing to consider is the age of your children -- you don't want to choose a bathroom theme that they'll outgrow or think is "too childish"  in 6 months or less.

As far as themes, almost all kids love animals of all kinds. Zoo animals, jungle animals, dogs, cats, birds, etc. Also cartoon characters as mentioned earlier. Sesame Street is is a classic favorite with most young children. If you have all girls or all boys you might take that into consideration as well. You can find matching sets with cute patterns on towels, bath rugs, waste baskets, shower curtains and other accessories.

Imagine how your kids will look forward to their bath when they're surrounded by fun images like bunnies or firemen or Winnie the Poo. Girls always enjoy princesses or ballerinas or mermaids, while boys are more excited by images of cars or airplanes or Bugs Bunny or the other Looney Tunes cartoon characters. If the bathroom will be shared by both boys and girls, you can choose gender neutral themes like nature scenes of plants or clouds, or superheroes or cartoon characters like Donald Duck that appeal to both sexes.

You'll also want to consider the design and materials of any kids bath accessories you may be considering. Some accessories that are made of plastic may contain dangerous levels of harmful chemicals, and you never want to introduce items into the bathroom that are small enough to be a choking hazard. And always use common sense and don't allow children to bring plug-in appliances like TVs or radios into the bathroom.

Also avoid any bath accessories that are made of glass.  These may be great choices for an adult bathroom, but as any parent knows kids have a way of breaking things, even mirrors. So look for safe plastic alternatives whenever you can, and your kids bathroom will be a fun and enjoyable room for your children.

Helpful Bath Tips

Get Organized With Vertical Storage Cubbies - most bathrooms have a lot of horizontal counter space, but items start to pile over time and counters can start to look cluttered.

One solution is to add a vertical storage cubbie with 20 to 24 compartments. Many small bath items can displayed in an organized manner, leaving your valuable counter space for more important things like soap and washcloths.
